Your Family Never Has to "Outgrow" A Home You Love

Are You Decorating Your Outdoor Patio?

by Zack Gilbert

Have you decided that it is time for you to spruce up your patio? Perhaps you're looking forward to using it this summer for entertaining extended family members and friends. Or, you might just want to beautify the patio for your own enjoyment, perhaps establishing a place where you can relax in a beautiful setting. From buying statuary to selecting metal benches as part of your patio furniture, here are some ideas that might help you to design a unique outdoor patio.

Statuary - To add interest to the patio area, think of different ways that you can use outdoor statuary in your patio design. Do you love animals? If so, think about placing two or three deer statues right on the lawn that is next to your patio. Another idea is to buy very small statues of animals to place among pots that you are using as part of the patio decor.

For example, imagine a statue of a bunny peeking out from the inside of a large pot. For a truly beautiful focal point, consider buying a wall fountain. Not only will it add the sound of water to your patio, but it will more than likely attract birds. The good thing about statuary is that it will last for a very long time, and it is very easy to care for. If it gets dirty, just gently hose it down and get the grime off with a soft brush.

Furniture - Of course, wooden patio furniture and wicker furniture would both work outdoors. However, think about choosing wrought iron which will not only be unique but will also probably withstand the outdoor elements really well. Consider selecting wrought iron furniture pieces that have intricate work as part of the design. If you'll be entertaining guests, consider purchasing a wrought iron table and chair set that can be used for mealtime. Another idea is to purchase metal benches, also of an elaborate design.

Not only will they add a dramatic and interest feeling to the patio, but they will be available for extra seating. Consider painting all of the wrought iron furniture black, dark gray, or forest green. Besides being beautiful, wrought iron furniture will last for a very long time. When it starts showing wear, then just paint it again. The salesperson at a paint store will more than likely be very happy to show you spray paints that are easy to use and that will do well on your outdoor wrought iron furniture.
